Celebration of the 73 years of INCAP

INCAP celebrated its 73 years of work with activities for its staff and scientific events.

The Institute of Nutrition of Central America and Panama -INCAP-, was founded on September 14, 1949, establishing its headquarters in Guatemala City.

This Wednesday, september 14th, INCAP commemorate this emblematic date, activities were carried out that began with an act of hoisting the flags of the member countries, as well as those of PAHO, SICA and INCAP, which were hoisted in the Plaza de las Banderas by INCAP staff members. : Gilda González, Magdalena Lucas, Lucía Mérida, Carmen Lara, Carlos Che, Norma Alfaro, Roberto Luna, César Chaicoj, Ana Irene Corado, Mónica Mazariegos and Clara Luz de Pereda, who were appointed for different merits and years of service to the Institute.

Then, in the INCAP Conference Room, an act of recognition was held, in which the 10, 15, 20 and 25 years of service of the Institute's staff were highlighted. This year recognized: Carmen Lara (25), Lcda. Norma Alfaro (20), Mr. Carlos Che (15), Lucía Mérida (10) and Roberto Luna (10).

Likewise, the Marilú del Valle prize was awarded, an award traditionally given to an outstanding person in the area of support work and which this year went to María Elizabeth González (Betty), in charge of the Institute's Nursery Room; Likewise, a diploma of recognition was given to César Chicoj for personal improvement upon obtaining his graduation diploma.

To close the cycle of celebrations, the 2022 Scientific Meeting "From evidence to action: Successful experiences to promote health and prevent chronic diseases throughout the life course" was given, from which the symposiums were derived. : 1. "Promoting the health of children in urban environments" and 2. "Application of implementation science in the search to improve the management of arterial hypertension in rural areas of Guatemala", with the participation of prominent professionals from science and urbanism.
