General objective

The main goal of the project is to assess breastfeeding practices at three months post partum and mother´s and child´s body composition (lean body mass and fat mass), as well as cardio metabolic risk factors (blood pressure, endothelial markers –GMP and BNP, serum insulin, glucose, lipid profile and homeostasis model assessment –HOMA) at 3 and 11 months post-partum. Three month old infants will be includes across all the breastfeeding range (those who are exclusively breastfed to those who are not breastfed).

Cross-sectional study in   which mother of 3-4 months old infants will be assessed. The following dietary and cardiovascular parameters will be included:

·         Breast milk intake at 3   months old

·         Body composition (primary   response variable)

·         Blood pressure

·         Blood biomarkers

·         Infant´s feeding   practices

·         Anthropometry

·         Sociodemographic   information

·         Breastfeeding and   morbidity
