INCAP Researchers and experts of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) discussed new research options

OIEA2Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), stable isotopes and their application on food and nutrition was the topic addressed at the conference taught by Professor Eleuterio Umpierrez, IAEA expert and Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Chemistry, University of the Republic of Uruguay.

Professor Umpierrez gave the conference entitled “FTIR: principles and its application on food and nutrition”, to the group of professionals and researchers of INCAP. This conference took place at INCAP and its objective was that researchers at INCAP could get to know the different applications the FTIR equipment could have in the field of food and nutrition. Currently FTIR equipment is used to determine body composition and breast-feeding practices through the analysis of stable isotopes, this research projects are carried out by INCAP with financing of IAEA.
